Water Damage Quickly Turns to Mold

Stagnant and standing water is a breeding ground for bacteria and mold spores. The longer it stands, the more potential for risk. After sitting 48 to 72 hours, fresh or potable water becomes a category 2, which means it is contaminated. After 7 days it becomes classified as a category 3, which is highly contaminated and considered black water.  In many cases, the source of water damage can be from a sewage pipe, which would increase the risks and danger.

Mold caused by moisture

Mold growth is encouraged by warmth and humid conditions. Where there is mold, there has been water damage. Once mold sets in, it spreads quickly and makes for an unhealthy environment for humans and pets everywhere it is present.
